Frequently asked questions¶
Does the assistant change data without asking?¶
Your MCP client and its approval settings decide which tool calls need confirmation. A read-only Manager profile also prevents writes on the server side, see Configuration.
Which CCO versions are supported?¶
SAP Customer Checkout on-premise 2.0 FP21 and the Cloud Edition 3.x, also mixed within one configuration.
Do I need Node.js or another runtime?¶
No. The server is a single executable per platform (Linux x64, Windows x64, macOS Intel and Apple Silicon).
Where does my POS data flow?¶
The server runs locally on your machine and talks directly to your Manager. The portal is only contacted for installation, updates and the license; article, receipt and user data never passes through it. Keep in mind, though: whatever the assistant reads through the tools is processed by the respective AI service (e.g. Claude) like any other input.
Where do my credentials live?¶
Best in ~/.cco-mcp-server/managers.json (created by the add-manager
wizard with 0600 permissions). That keeps them out of the MCP client's
configuration file. Alternatively as environment variables in the MCP
entry, see Configuration.
Can I connect several Managers at the same time?¶
Yes. Any number of profiles in the managers file, and a single MCP entry
serves them all; every tool picks the target Manager via a parameter. Or
you create one MCP entry per Manager with --manager <name>.
Do I need a subscription?¶
No. The CCO MCP Server is free with a registered portal account, including write tools and multiple Managers. The installer retrieves your free license and refreshes it on updates. An already covered version keeps running after the license cutoff, see Operation.
I still have a license in the old format (CCOMCP1-...). What now?¶
The old format is no longer accepted since 0.6.0. Existing users get a new key free of charge: create or use an account in the customer portal once and run the install one-liner; after that the server updates itself.
Can I use the server on several machines?¶
Yes. Each machine is connected to your portal account once, via the install
one-liner or cco-mcp-server login. You can view and revoke the device
tokens individually in the portal.
There is no tool for my case. Now what?¶
The ccom_request tool sends arbitrary requests to the Manager API; that
way the assistant also reaches functions without a dedicated tool. And
write to us at
stefan.baust@stefanbaust.de about
which tools you are missing.
Does the server work with MCP clients other than Claude?¶
The server speaks standard MCP over stdio; in principle, any MCP-capable client works. The installation guide covers Codex, ChatGPT Desktop, Claude Code and Claude Desktop.
