Usage at the POS

There is nothing for the cashier to set up; the plugin speaks up on its own when it is needed.

What happens when booking

When an article that has a stored message is booked, whether by barcode scan, quick selection button, or material search, the following happens:

  1. The POS plays an alert sound (provided sound is enabled).
  2. The stored message appears as a warning popup. At this point the article is not yet on the receipt.
  3. While the message is open, the keyboard is blocked, including the barcode scanner, which behaves like a keyboard. Every keystroke or scan is discarded and answered with an error tone; nothing gets confirmed or booked by accident.
  4. Only when the cashier taps OK (touch or mouse) is the article booked onto the receipt, and the POS carries on normally.

Articles without a stored message book as usual, without any delay.

What the message means

The text of the message comes straight from the article master data. Typical uses are age checks ("verify the customer's ID"), deposit or activation notes, and allergen warnings. By tapping OK the cashier confirms having seen the message; the corresponding action (such as the ID check) is carried out before that.

The message appears again on every booking of an affected article, even when the same article is booked several times on the same receipt.
