Operations¶
How the plugin works¶
The plugin queries the certificate expiry date directly from the TSE (through the TSE integration of Customer Checkout) and caches it. The first query runs roughly 90 seconds after the POS starts, then at the configured interval (default: every 6 hours). The login screen and the login dialog only read this cache; a TSE query never delays login.
If the TSE is temporarily unreachable, the plugin keeps the last known expiry date and records the error in the log. It sends no data anywhere; everything runs locally on the POS.
Updates¶
New versions appear in the customer portal
(portal.stefanbaust.de), together
with the release notes on the product page. An update is a jar swap:
download the new version, replace the jar in POSPlugins/AP/, restart
the POS.
License¶
The portal download embeds your license directly into the jar; in the normal case, you never have to deal with the license at all.
If the plugin finds no valid license, it disables itself visibly: it writes an unmissable error to the log and shows the notice "TSE-Ablauf-Warnung: keine gültige Lizenz — Warnungen deaktiviert (Portal-Download)" ("TSE expiry warning: no valid license — warnings disabled (portal download)") on the login screen. The POS itself keeps running unaffected; only the TSE warnings are missing.
Remedy: download the plugin fresh from the portal (the download
contains the license), or place a license provided by support as a
file license-tse-expiry-warning-plugin.key next to the jar in
POSPlugins/AP/. The complete LICENSE.txt from the portal download
is sufficient as the file's content. Such a file overrides the
embedded license.
Logs¶
All messages of the plugin carry the prefix [tse-expiry] and go to
the standard log of the POS (cco_standard.log):
| Log line | Meaning |
|---|---|
started (refresh every N h) |
Plugin started, refresh interval active |
TSE certificate expires <Datum> |
Expiry date (re)read from the TSE |
login dialog shown (N days to expiry) |
Warning dialog was displayed |
could not read certificate expiry: … |
TSE unreachable; the last known value is kept |
invalid value for <Property> |
Invalid configuration value, the default is used |
Troubleshooting¶
No warning appears although expiry is drawing near. Check, in this order:
- Is the German signature profile with a TSE active on this POS? Without an active TSE, the plugin stays deliberately inactive.
- Is there a
TSE certificate expiresline in the log? If not, the plugin has not been able to read the date yet; right after POS startup, this can take up to two minutes. - Is there a license error in the log, or the notice "keine gültige Lizenz" ("no valid license") on the login screen? Then see License above.
- Is the expiry date really within the threshold? By default, the dialog only appears from 14 days, the notice from 30 days (Configuration).
The warning stays after the TSE swap. The plugin re-reads the expiry date at the configured interval (default: every 6 hours). After a TSE swap, the warning therefore disappears after this interval at the latest, or immediately after a restart of the POS.
The notice appears, but no dialog. That is by design: between 30 and 14 days before expiry there is only the notice on the login screen; the dialog joins in from 14 days.
