Usage

In day-to-day operation there is nothing you need to do. The plugin speaks up on its own once the expiry of the TSE certificate draws near. It warns in two stages and never interferes with sales.

The warning texts the POS displays are in German (the plugin targets tills subject to German fiscal law); they are quoted below in the original with an English translation.

Stage 1: notice on the login screen

From 30 days before expiry (default), a notice appears on the login screen of the POS, in the same block where Customer Checkout shows its own messages such as "Keine gültige Lizenz…" ("No valid license…"):

TSE-Zertifikat läuft am 15.11.2026 ab — noch 21 Tage, Ersatz-TSE bestellen!

("TSE certificate expires on 15.11.2026 — 21 days left, order a replacement TSE!")

On the day of expiry and afterwards, the notice gets more insistent:

TSE-Zertifikat läuft HEUTE ab — sofort Ersatz-TSE einsetzen!

("TSE certificate expires TODAY — deploy a replacement TSE immediately!")

TSE-Zertifikat am 15.11.2026 abgelaufen — Belege ohne TSE-Signatur!

("TSE certificate expired on 15.11.2026 — receipts without TSE signature!")

Until expiry, the notice is a warning; from expiry on, it is displayed in red as an error.

Stage 2: dialog after login

From 14 days before expiry (default), the POS additionally shows a dialog a few seconds after each cashier login:

Das TSE-Zertifikat dieser Kasse läuft in 10 Tagen ab (am 15.11.2026). Bitte rechtzeitig eine Ersatz-TSE beschaffen und einsetzen, sonst werden Belege nicht mehr signiert.

("The TSE certificate of this till expires in 10 days (on 15.11.2026). Please procure and deploy a replacement TSE in time, otherwise receipts will no longer be signed.")

After expiry, the dialog also switches to an error text and points out that receipts are no longer TSE-signed. The dialog can be confirmed like any POS message and reappears at the next login for as long as the date is within the threshold.

What to do when a warning appears

  1. Procure a replacement TSE in good time; depending on the model, delivery can take several weeks.
  2. Have the TSE replaced and set up in Customer Checkout before the expiry date.
  3. After the swap, the warning disappears on its own once the plugin has read the new expiry date, at the latest after the next restart of the POS (see Operations).

Important: the plugin only warns. It cannot replace an expired TSE, and it does not stop the POS from posting receipts without TSE signatures after expiry. That is exactly why the warning deserves to be taken seriously while it is still a warning and not yet a red error.
